How to disconnect from our ego voice. Part 2.


Often, I am contacted by talented and amazing professionals that are great executives during their work hours but when they leave their day job and get home to their spouses, friends, or partners they feel insecure and awkward. There are also many lovely and intelligent people who contact me saying that they have an amazing love life, but they aren’t succeeding in their careers. These two opposite groups have one thing in common; they are giving too much attention to their Saboteur, Ego, or Inner Critic Voices.

Let’s continue to part 2: How to disconnect from our ego voice.




3. The more anxious and angry you become towards a person or a situation, the more your ego is sabotaging your path.

What about when you see yourself in a critical situation about work or in your relationships? Your thoughts keep bombarding you. They keep revisiting the same problem over and over. Ask yourself:


Is it my soul who is making me angry and anxious about this situation, or is it my ego?


The ego will always tell you to be angry about what happened, but your soul will guide you to change your attitude. Therefore, you can change the situation. Another example is when you are stuck in traffic feeling frustrated and upset.

Ask yourself, ‘who is getting angry?’ The answer is always the ego because you are only the observer of the situation and of the ego itself.


“If you want to reach a state of bliss, then go beyond your ego and the internal dialogue. Make a decision to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved, and the need to judge. Those are the three things the ego is doing all the time. It’s very important to be aware of them every time they come up.” Deepak Chopra


How can we change your situation if your ego keeps telling you that you can’t?


I love engaging in visualization and meditation. Both are great ways to convince your inner critic (Ego) and convince your brain that everything is possible. Your ego always plays tricky games with your mind, making you believe that everything can go wrong. For this reason, when you repeatedly imagine yourself feeling at peace within that situation – healthy and in harmony inside and out – a miracle starts to manifest. During meditation you can calm your thoughts; as a result, your ego gets shy and quiet because it knows that it loses its power when you are in a calm, meditative state.

4 – Breathe! Relax instead of becoming involved with your ego. Get your power back!


In concurrence with visualization and meditation, breathing exercises and a good night of sleep are other essential ways to calm your mind in order to get better control of your life. As you understand that your ego will always want to see you in misery, it is up to you to relax and balance your mind-body-spirit. The ego absolutely loves to see you stressed out, overwhelmed, and feeling sorry for yourself. Your ego is like the dark angel Lucifer and your soul is like your guardian angel. You can choose in every second of your existence who you want to give your power to.

One of the easiest breathing methods is to inhale, hold for 6 seconds, and then exhale. However, if you would like to challenge yourself a bit and learn a different breathing style, these are my two favorite breathing exercises:


Bhastrika and Kapalbhati breathing techniques. They both help to activate our vital energy and improve our well-being.

In essence, calming your mind can also be achieved by a whole night of good sleep. Ultimately, when you fall asleep, you are completely released from your negative thoughts. Therefore, you can start each day fresh in triumph over your ego.
