What is the most important aspect of your job or career to you?
For example, maybe it’s having a flexible schedule or lots of vacation time. Or perhaps it’s the ability to be your own boss or work in a team.
The quality of your life is most often equivalent to the quality of the questions you are willing to ask yourself.
Asking the right questions can send you through a narrow tunnel to find the answers to your struggles and dreams.
If you are looking for a new job or career you can ask yourself some of these great questions:
Where are your emotions or feelings right now in regards to your current career, job, or job search?
What could you do to create a plan or series of actions that can move you forward with your career?
What have you been doing that could be potentially sabotaging yourself from making more money and acquiring more balance between work and personal life?
Many times our inner critical voice, or our saboteur, incessantly tries to remind us that we don’t have the right skills, or we are too old, too young, or too broke to go back to school and learn a new career. This inner critical voice clouds our vision and belief in our ability to attain a more prosperous life in a career that may be much more fulfilling than our present one.
The idea isn’t to completely abolish or eliminate the Saboteur, rather to bring a level of awareness to this voice in the present moment in such a way that you can be in charge.
When looking for a new job, it is important to understand what you truly value in order to find a job or position that fulfills you more. Think about your previous or current job and ask yourself:
Did/do you feel recognized and valued? Were/are you happy to get up in the morning knowing that you were/are going to that specific job?
If you were happy in your job or career but for some reason you were laid off, it is going to be even easier to attract another one with similar positive qualities.
On the other hand, if you left a job that was making you miserable, congratulations! Now you can start afresh, a new, positive path leaving behind all of the things that were making you feel less than enough.
The key to attracting your ideal job is to have the right mindset for the great position you envision. Of course, you need to have the qualifications, but you would be surprised how many people have been hired having much less experience than the competing candidates. What did they have or do that was different from the other candidates? They had the right mindset about themselves at the most precise moment in their interview.
What do you need to do to have this experience yourself?
Here are three tips to get you in touch with your Mojo and into the right state of mind to attract your next dream job.
- Visualization. Visualize how you would like to feel at your next job. What would make you feel valued and respected in this new job? Imagine how that feels inside as you bathe in this respect and appreciation. What clothes are you wearing? What is the culture of this new company? How much do you want to earn? What kinds of clients, products, or services do you want to be involved with?
- Eat clean. Eating healthy directly reflects how you treat and take care of yourself. Eating well also helps your brain function optimally, leading you to make better decisions for yourself.
- Draw two columns on a piece of paper. In the right-hand column, write all of the negative things you don’t like about your current or previous job. In the left-hand column, make a list of all the positive things you love in your current job, or that you would love to have in your next job?
By taking the time to ask yourself these questions, and sitting quietly to not only hear but also envision what the answers really look and feel like, you are taking one big step in the direction of finding more fulfilling employment.
Be honest with yourself, and don’t be afraid that what you want is too much to ask or too far out of reach. You deserve the best job ever! You are worthy of all of the joy that comes from doing work you love with coworkers, clients, employees, or bosses that you enjoy being around.
